Healthy Living| Mecca’s 5 Tips To The Healthiest Version Of YOU
It’s true that even the healthiest of health nuts need a push! It’s also true that every trainer has a trainer, someone that has mentored them through the process while keeping them focused when they fall off. So why would you think that you can do it alone…stay focused on your healthy journey all by yourself when you don’t have to?
You may be a multi-tasking mother like me…trying to balance it all while juggling being a wife, a mother, great friend all while trying not to eat the rest of the food from your toddler’s plate. Oh and of course in the midst of that you are managing your career and your dreams.
Or you might be a busy single woman whose focus has been on climbing up the corporate ladder and yet you’ve forgotten to take care of yourself along the way. Now is the moment that things have finally slowed down and there you are standing in the mirror wondering “how did this happen?”
When did I get this pooch…or better yet how did I put on this extra weight?? Then you start to replay all of the corporate lunches, dinners, or the “eating on the run”.
Well
- The Accountability Calendar| Print out a calendar template that will serve as your check off sheet over the next 30 days. This calendar should be placed in a highly visible place (
ps I keep mine on my bathroom mirror).Everyday you must check off your workouts/healthy eating. This will keep you accountable by showing you when there is a gap on any days. Aim for 7 days of consistency every week!! You got this! - The Accountability Partners| You must identify two people!! One is your supportive friend that has a mutual interest in getting fit. You share some of the same fitness goals. This person is also the same person that will allow you to stay in the bed when you should be at the gym or eat the piece of pizza…which is why the 2nd accountability partner is so IMPORTANT. The second person is your “health advisor” which is a friend or associate that is further on their fitness journey. If you do not have a person like that in your circle this is where a fitness trainer or instructor will help significantly.
- The Trainer or Health Coach| For most people when you spend your hard-earned money you stay focused on reaching your goal. I am one of those people and find myself more committed when I am personally/financially invested. I highly recommend a trainer for those of you who may not know where to start in the gym. Or for someone who has plateaued in their fitness journey…
hey you are not meant to do it ALONE!!! A health coach like myself is someone who inspires and guides you along your journey providing a support system for you to accomplish your goals. - The Why| At all times you must know
your why . This should be a list of 3-5 things that remind you of why you should stay motivated. For example: Being healthier for my kids so that I can live for a long time, being happy with the way you look/feel in your clothes, being able to wearthat bikini /favorite dress again, or ensuring that I don’t get diabetes/heart disease like other family members. You should look at this list daily and it can be posted on your mirror with your calendar. (I also suggest keeping a copy in the notes section of your phone so that when temptation hits you can read through that list) - The Plan| You must have a PLAN! “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” – Benjamin Franklin. I
know that is tough for some to hear but its true!! We plan for everything else! We plan for the job we want by prepping for the interview. We plan for test by studying the material in school. Whether you are joining my 30 day to FIT challenge or trying something else. I highly recommend that you commit to something for 30 days. 30 days may seem daunting in the beginning so focus on two weeks as you check off your calendar, before you know it you will only have two weeks left.
…I like to call this THE RESET This is the time after the 30 day period where you start to see the change. It is everything you needed to get you right back on track. You Got This!
